Project Site
The RIG project is located in a 20,000-squarefoot former high school gym on Blannahassett Island, surrounded by a scenic 10-acre riverside Town Park with trails, picnic areas, and green space for outdoor recreation. Connected by bridge to downtown Marshall, NC, the site sits within a growing tourism corridor popular for its arts, local businesses, kayaking, hiking, and proximity to attractions like Hot Springs and Asheville.
Historic Legacy
RIG is an adaptive reuse project on a property that is listed on the National Historic Registry. The gym was built in 1956 on Blannahassett Island. The main school building in front of the gym was in operation until 1973 and has since been renovated into artIst studios. The gym has served as a community center in more recent years before being purchased by Scoregeous Investments.
